The Information Technology Department is a County agency that operates under the Allen County Data Processing Board. The Department is administered by the Allen County Auditor. The Department specializes in the unique Information Technology requirements of County government and administration. Information Techonology users enjoy the benefits of both centralized and distributed computing with the security of regular backups and protected data storage. The IT Department also works with County agencies on the purchase of new computer equipment, assists agencies who employ dedicated MIS Staff, and provide many other IT services.

Allen County has a centralized network system which allows all departments to collaborate and share services. The network has grown quickly over the last few years as computer usage has increased among County employees. In 2008, the County network disaster recovery was completed.  This allows for offsite storage of data. The Department works closely with the Data Processing Board to pass computer policy and procedures. In 2011, we implemented a Countywide Help Desk for end users to log cases and projects. In 2012, the Department will be updating the courts software as well as installing a countywide document management system.
